A 26-year-old man named Connor Whiteley has been sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a female police officer during riots in Hull, United Kingdom. Whiteley was involved in a violent disorder on August 3, during which he kicked the officer's shield, causing her to fall and sustain minor injuries to her elbow and forearm. The incident occurred as police were protecting a hotel housing asylum seekers from a racially charged mob.

Whiteley, who admitted to violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker at Hull Crown Court, played a significant role in the violence. He was also involved in an attack on a garage, where cars were set on fire and threats were made against staff, forcing them to take refuge inside.

In response to the recent unrest affecting 12 towns, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, assured the safety of Nigerians living in the UK. During a meeting with Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Dr. Montgomery emphasized the UK government's efforts to restore order, including the establishment of 60 special courts and over 400 arrests. He expressed confidence that the situation would be resolved swiftly.
