NATIONWIDE BLACKOUT AS NATIONAL ELECTRICITY GRID SUFFERS ANOTHER SYSTEM FAILURE

The national electricity grid has once again experienced a system failure, resulting in a nationwide blackout. This latest incident adds to a series of collapses that have plagued the grid throughout the year.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed the widespread power outage. The AEDC attributed the blackout to a system failure from the national grid that occurred at 3:10 PM, disrupting power supply across its franchise areas.

"Please be informed that the power outage being experienced is due to a system failure from the national grid at 3:10 PM today, affecting the power supply to our franchise areas," the AEDC announced.

The distribution company assured the public that it is actively collaborating with relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilized.

This incident marks the fourth major grid collapse in 2024. The first collapse occurred on February 4, followed by another on March 28. The grid suffered a third failure on April 14, highlighting ongoing challenges in maintaining a stable national electricity supply.

As the authorities work to resolve the current outage, there is growing concern over the recurring failures and their impact on the country. Efforts to address the underlying issues and enhance the reliability of the national grid are crucial to preventing future occurrences and ensuring a consistent power supply.
